Ringwoodite has a structure similar to crystal that acts like a sponge to trap liquid and pull in hydrogen. Thus far only one small piece of ringwoodite has been brought to Earth’s surface from 400 miles underground by volcanic activity and was found to contain water in solid form. The researchers combined lab experiments on mantle rock under high pressure with seismic data measuring U.S. earthquakes to reach their conclusions. <br /><br />The discovery is an important one as it will help scientists learn how the Earth formed and its current composition. Northwestern geophysicist Steve Jacobsen, who is a co-author of the study, commented “I think we are finally seeing evidence for a whole-Earth water cycle, which may help explain the vast amount of liquid water on the surface of our habitable planet. Scientists have been looking for this missing deep water for decades.”

On Monday, Philippine President Benigno Aquino said he might request spy planes from the United States to keep watch over disputed areas of the South China Sea. Many believe this move could harm the Philippines' already tense relations with China...over potentially significant oil and gas deposits.
President Aquino told Reuters in an interview that he was considering requesting the US P3C Orion spy planes.
[Benigno Aquino, Philippine President]:
"We might be requesting for overflights of that. That doesn't preclude us. We don't have aircraft with those capabilities."
China has long warned "external forces" not to interfere in the dispute. The United States has said it remains neutral, but last year the US Pacific Command offered to deploy P3C Orion spy planes to the Philippines to help monitor the disputed waters, after China increased its activities near Reed Bank. The Pentagon also offered to share real-time surveillance data with the Philippines.
Just two weeks ago, both nations pulled out boats that had been locked in a standoff in Scarborough Shoal, a rocky area of the disputed waters.
[Benigno Aquino, Philippine President]:
"I think the Philippines has demonstrated time and again its interest to preserve the peace and the de-escalation of the situation. But we don't exist in a vacuum. We would want to see China reciprocate all of these moves that we've done as far as de-escalating the tensions."
US State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland would not comment on this specific issue, but said that, (quote) "as part of our long-standing cooperation, the United States supports the Philippines in enhancing its maritime awareness."

"Dark Horse" is a song recorded by American recording artist Katy Perryfeaturing rapper Juicy J. It was released on September 17, 2013, by Capitol Records as the first promotional single from Perry's fourth studio album,Prism (2013). Three months later, it was released as the third official single on December 17. Both artists co-wrote the song with its producers, Max Martin, Cirkut, and Dr. Luke, alongside Sarah Hudson. It was conceived by Perry and Hudson during a writing session in Perry's hometown of Santa Barbara, California, and Juicy J was later commissioned for a verse on the song.
"Dark Horse" combines the genres of trap and hip hop, creating what has been described as a "Southern rap-techno mashup". Upon release, "Dark Horse" received favorable to mixed reviews from contemporary music critics, who praised its experimentation with urban music and Perry's vocals but were less favorable on Juicy J's contribution to the song. "Dark Horse" has been a commercial success, charting at number one in Canada, the Netherlands and the United States. It also reached the top ten in almost 20 countries including New Zealand, United Kingdom, Sweden andVenezuela as well as the Digital Songs chart of Billboard magazine.[1] Perry first performed the song live at the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 20, 2013. This happened when we were asked to compose an original soundtrack for a video pretty unique in its genre, with a stunning, photo-realistic computer graphic and capable to inject you harmony and sadness at the same time.
With that video, partially in slow motion and partially focused on the action, the client asked for us for a classical and vocal composition inspired by the musical current of the 50s and 60s.
We had the opportunity to collaborate with a talented singer who sang our own lyrics, and with our reliable musicians to record a real small string ensemble, embellished by a woodwinds quartet.
Making a song like this wasn’t at all an easy task, but the emotions that arose from the movie helped us composing it with a constant inspiration.
